@graemebabbs You may be waiting awhile - I seem to remember a certain ‘lacks completer finisher traits’ in a personality profile a few years back!

@Paddy_Barrett This may be trivial but I think the image you used in your post is one of the reasons adults don’t do resistance training. It is so far removed from most adults view of themselves that it is unlikely to encourage (and may discourage) them to get involved in resistance training

Over 60% of adults are not doing enough resistance training. This likely has serious consequences for their health. Here are 5 reasons why you should be doing resistance training. 📕Make Sure To Bookmark✅

@QBCCIntegrity One of the reasons you have so much in your super is because of the preferential tax rates. You would not get the same tax concessions if you were able to use your super to pay off your mortgage. Super is for retirement that’s why the government offers such a good tax break on it

I’m in my 40’s. If I could access my superannuation now, I’d be able to pay off my home, have an additional $3,000 a month to save/spend AND save over $400,000 in interest payments over the next 20 years. This is why Labor don’t want us accessing our superannuation.

I love how one popular line in the negative gearing debate is “if you scrap negative gearing landlords will have to raise rents to cover costs” But if you are negative gearing then rent ALREADY doesn’t cover costs by definition.

@weKnowThatUKnow @DrDemography There are many investment opportunities for Australians. Leverage equity in the family home to borrow (like most property investors do), invest in shares, use dividends to pay loan, NG losses, sell for capital gain (CGT benefit). Same formula but not investing in existing houses

According to the ATO, the majority of rental properties are owned by single home investors. A single home investment is one of the only mechanisms Australians have to secure future financial stability and allows them to avoid reliance on the government. The push to squash that through ending "negative gearing" is the first step to guarantee complete government control, which is their whole aim. You people are a threat to all Australians!!!!!!!!!!

@1Swinging_Voter What lazy interviewing - ‘will you guarantee …blah, blah, blah’. The government must be agile and have courage to make changes that are needed. Let’s debate it when they propose a change of policy - let them justify why they want to make the change and we can decide if we like it

WOW!! Albanese is really rattled. He came out today to try and mop up his negative gearing mess and it blew up in his face. LOL Train wreck on Sky News this morning. He is cranky when called out. *Disclaimer -clip only includes just the best bits to fit X video limit.

@pmke @GrannoPerth @Just_Rad Just wondering - and not being augmentative - is there any data that supports one approach over the other? Do people who pour all their spare money into their mortgage first then into their super end up better off (at say age 60) than those who do the opposite?

@AlexDonaldson13 @GrannoPerth @Just_Rad Investment returns from super would be hard pressed to match post-tax house interest payments. However, Super contributions gets favourable tax treatment so, depending on your marginal tax rate, you may get better returns from super contributions rather than house payments.

@Just_Rad @pmke @GrannoPerth Then the rules (supported by tax incentives) say ‘bad luck’, wait till you can access your super to pay off your mortgage. Hopefully the preferential tax treatment of your compounding super will outweigh the benefit you may have got from paying off your mortgage earlier

@GrannoPerth @Just_Rad I would have thought it depends on the returns that your super is getting. If it is more than your interest on your mortgage then you will better off leaving it in super and getting the compound interest to offset your mortgage.

@Just_Rad Amazing isn’t it. I have thought about this too. If I could pay off my mortgage now, I could put away the same amount into super or bank/invest that I would be paying off the mortgage. Then I’d have 20 years of not having to pay interest to the bank. My money my future
