Actually reading abolitionist texts is precisely what flipped me from an “abolitionist” position expressed out of general deference to leftist consensus to “oh this is actually very bad and I oppose it.” Turned out I’d assumed there was much more plausibility and serious discussion of tradeoffs than there really was! “We will effectively revert to self-appointed local cliques that decide who is guilty and what to do with them, like a medieval peasant village—but hopefully nicer this time” is a horrible answer and one advanced across several texts by leading abolitionists. I don’t know if this includes you, specifically—I haven’t read your book—but I’ve read a few and was appalled by what I found within

I have a number of female friends who are some of the deepest souls or most galactic minds I know...trying to find a husband by hotness-maxxing They do, of course, attract many men this way, but not ones they feel seen by. I'm not sure what to tell them because they're very fixated on hotness-maxxing in order to find a stable normie husband while secretly being non-normies themselves. And meanwhile they're burrowing into this not-quite-working strategy bc theyr'e freaking out about the ticking fertility clock If I could cast a spell, it would be either: (a) One where they accept that they're a weirdo, even though they're normie-passing. So they have to adjust their dating strategy accordingly. Although this is hard because weirdness-appreciating men have their own set of issues (b) One that builds a sisterhood around them of fellow witches or female intellectuals so that they have some outlet for being a weirdo even if their husband is a normie finance guy from the midwest or w/e who just wants to make them happy even if he doesn't get them But also I'm not a woman so idk what I'm talking about!

He did not claim to identify as a woman, Florida's anti-discrimination law prevented the casino from excluding him solely because he was male, sparking widespread controversy.

People are citing this as an example of women not being competitive with men in another non-physical competition. Treating it a bit like Karsten Braasch or an under-15 boys team beating the women's national team. I don't think this particular story illustrates that point at all.

Can someone explain why poker is a gender segregated game to begin with? I can’t think of any reason that isn’t insulting to women
