@BatVibes Its also likely Damian released Charmander, as when he does change his mind and want him, he throws a Pokeball to call him back. Everytime a Pokemon is called back, the ball is never thrown. So that means he was trying to recapture Charmander.

The anime establishes strict rules about Poké Ball ownership, but Ash completely ignores them. • The Wurmple Episode: When May and Jessie mix up their Wurmple, the show explicitly confirms that a Poké Ball will automatically fail if you try to catch a Pokémon that already belongs to another trainer's registry. • The "Abandonment": Damian never formally released Charmander. He told it to wait on a rock and promised to return and he actually did come back for it later. • The Manipulation: Ash manages to convince Charmander that Damian abandoned him, and this leads Charmander to reject being recalled by Damian. This leads to a couple really key questions: 1) Can a Pokémon decide to release itself out of its trainer's custody? 2) Did Ash find some clever loophole to steal another trainer's Pokémon?

@fwmann1e Interesting theory, but the issue is the new Avatar is born after the death of the previous, Yue would've had to been born shortly after Aang died, but she was born 3-4 generations after him. The next Avatar would've been a completely separate person who would be much older.

Fun fact: Yue was supposed to be the Avatar after Aang but due to him being alive, Raava was not able to enter her body so she was born without a spirit. That’s why the Moon Spirit stepped in

@DJ_Gekko24 I wouldn't necessarily say easier, but the circumstances were different. All League Conferences before Kalos had 100+/200+ participants, Kalos only had 64 participants. Alola also had a Battle Royale styled preliminary to weed out the other 135 participants.

Hell, TotK on S2 uses 32 gigs, with BotW on Switch 2 using 24, MKW & KAR use 21, Splatoon Raiders/Yoshi uses 20, Star Fox is 15.

Other split owners of pokemon want as much revenue as possible bc they have to split it 3 ways. to do that and increase their margins, they pushed for a key card. @geargate1 I think this is a hard question, because if you switch them, Aang wouldn't have anyone to teach him airbending. The only airbenders in Korra for the first two seasons are his descendants. Then the inverse, the Fire Nation slaughters the Water Tribes instead of Air Nomads

I think another factor is metal is considered an element that is rigid, hardheaded, and resistant. Bending was a martial art affected by one's spiritual understanding and body movements. If they wanted Bolin to be a Lavabender they could've given him a whole arc going into his mothers Fire Nation culture to feel close to them and through training in their movements develop lava Bending after seeing their commonality with the movements from the Red lotus Lava bender. Look into who He was Learn who he was and see the similarities between them (being mixed nations, lost of family) and creating a form of Rivalry/mentorship with him... giving more to a Red lotus member because besides Zaheer, they were all one note and lame. And not only give weight to when Bolin learns to Lavabend, but make it feel earned. Plus, going deep into the shows themes ot the elemental nations being united. You know, do something with the damn characters.
