@AlexVolloFPL I’m deciding between Tete or Bassey as Gudmansson got the red and I won’t have playing XI otherwise. What’s the data behind Bassey? My thinking is that Burnley conceded set pieces and he’s a beast in the air but Tete will also get down the win so has higher xA.

@AlexVolloFPL I don’t believe you. I don’t think you have what it takes to not own Summerville and Mykolenko.

Next season I go 5 DEFCON defenders, 4 mids with DEFCON & set pieces, and maybe 2 positions you'd need to think about for more than 10 seconds. People who say the player pool is getting bigger will be pretty quiet in preseason.

@AlexVolloFPL Me too. I was between him and Gordon and went with EA. Kind of like choosing between a station wagon and a Lamborghini and choosing the station wagon for it’s reliability

@N0th1ngsWr0ng I don't really like Newcastle defenders for this week but at the same time alternatives are not much better, so maybe Thiaw is not that bad

@AlexVolloFPL Can I get an advice here bud? I have 2 FTs and thought to get Hall or Thiaw instead of Mukiele and save one transfer. Or maybe use it on Gordon for Enzo? What do you suggest?

With all the injuries, I have only 9 players and 1 FT. The best option is probably just to play with 10, but I might take a hit on a DEFCON guy. Big chance I won't lose anything anyway with a 4 points floor. Now I need to decide who it's going to be🤔

Thank you for proving my point. Senesi is actually a perfect example, because he becomes universally relevant for ONE very specific reason If a player only exists in the conversation because of one scoring mechanic, that's not expanding the pool, it's just creating a new template within it

@AlexVolloFPL Its ironic that you use senesi a person the fpl community or casual wouldn't consider if it wasn't for defcon as a reason why the player pool is smaller as well. You're the one who acts 136 points is game breaking. Players like trent and robbo use to get 200 without defcon btw

@AlexVolloFPL Funny because even with this stat to make defcon look overpowered hes still has 136 points with an average of 4.6 a game which is only slightly above the average for a defender. This is like me picking salah of last year and saying no defcon midfielder comes close to him btw

@FPL_HM10 And yeah they will adjust the pricing, it's a fact already, but it would be really hard to get it right still

@FPL_HM10 More routes to points = smaller pool for competitive players, so you know my answer The problem is the metric is not distinct enough in the first place

Realistically they might, but with scoring already at a 5-year low and people still not even agreeing on what DEFCON actually is, the only real fix would be removing it altogether But even if it stays (which it is), pricing adjustments won't solve much, we'll still find a small pool of cheap alternatives early on, and that probably makes the pool even narrower

@AlexVolloFPL Realistically they’ll make some changes to defcon scoring / over adjust pricing

@StingFPL Pricing would definitely be very hard to get right. I still think we'll find cheaper alternatives early on though, just because the DEFCON context is so unpredictable

@AlexVolloFPL It will be extremely difficult for FPL to get pricing right next season to make the player pool wide enough. That might require FPL pricing all defcon CBs at 5.5, defcon mids at 6.5 and set piece takers at a premium to attackers reliant on open play

@AlexVolloFPL If thr attackers and midfielders actually contributed like they have previously, the pool would be bigger btw. It had nothing to do with defcon and everything to do with the way football has headed
