@NickOwen50 @NJM71 My state pension age has been changed more than once, and I haven’t received a letter about it … but then I didn’t get an individual letter promising anything either! I’m sure Ombudsman will see sence on this one, or else it’ll be a PPI-style frenzy all over again!

@NJM71 We await the Ombudsman's decision on whether compensation is due for the governments failure to send individual letters to effected woman in 2006. No government has ignored such a ruling. My guess is there will be no compensation recommended as there was no actual financial loss,

The govt hopefully won't be giving anything to 1950s born women. Younger women and men have higher state pension ages than any 1950s born woman and the law changed in 1995. People don't get "compensation" because state pension age changes - whether they knew about it or not.

Another small excess this week (3%) takes 2023 year-to-date mortality rates to the same level as in 2021. The pattern is very different though. 2021 had a severe peak followed by below average Spring mortality. 2023 had a smaller peak but followed by a consistent weekly excess.
