Middle School Student: Q: “What do you think your teachers misunderstand most about AI?” A: They think everyone uses it to cheat, but not everyone uses it to cheat. Most are using it to get help they need and we're learning about how to use it from YouTube or wherever.

@jmattmiller I've seen several similar posts recently. There's definitely a growing movement to remove AI and other tech from classrooms. Back to the idea that some people think it has to be all or nothing rather than looking for the sweet spot that combines the best of both worlds.

Exactly! I've long said in my sessions that AI ( like most things) is not all good or all bad. The key is finding balance of when it's helpful and knowing when we can do better without it.

Apparently Meta, Dall-E, and a few other tools use similar markers. This certainly does not solve all questions of what is made by AI and what isn't, but it can be a helpful tool!

@stasreads333 @simongerman600 Yes! On a similar note, someone once told me never to judge someone who mispronounces a word because that often means they learned it from something they read and they may have never heard it pronounced.

I also loved @ClayCodes closing advice for educators to think about when you don't use technology and don't use AI. Those are the moments that make it all important and allow us to connect with students!
