One of the more humbling lessons I’ve learned in business is that decisions that don’t make sense in the moment but compound in a way I didn’t predict are often because the person making the decision is playing a different game over a longer time horizon that I didn’t spot or understand.
Common error, and you see it everywhere. If an otherwise rational actor makes a decision that seems counter to incentives or principle, perhaps I am misunderstanding the principle or unaware that the game has suddenly shifted.

His insurance company is refusing to fund it, so it's on us.
