Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) – Legacy of Excellence Award We are proud to recognize the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) for its century-long impact on nursing and health care when it receives the Legacy of Excellence Award on October 29, 2025. Founded in 1925, RNAO represents RNs, NPs, and nursing students in Ontario, with over 54,400 members. Its advocacy and leadership have shaped health policy, nursing practice, and professional standards nationally and internationally. RNAO’s achievements include establishing the College of Nurses of Ontario and the Ontario Nurses’ Association, securing RN prescribing authority, expanding NP scope of practice, and the world-renowned Best Practice Guidelines Program. RNAO continues to influence policy, build capacity, and foster nursing excellence. Fondée en 1925, l’AIIAO représente les infirmières et infirmiers autorisés (IA), les infirmières et infirmiers praticiens (IP) ainsi que les étudiants en sciences infirmières de l’Ontario, avec plus de 54 400 membres. Son action et son leadership ont façonné les politiques de santé, la pratique infirmière et les normes professionnelles au Canada et à l’international. Parmi ses réalisations figurent la création de l’Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers de l’Ontario et de l’Association des infirmières et infirmiers de l’Ontario, l’obtention du pouvoir de prescrire pour les IA, l’élargissement du champ d’exercice des IP et le Programme des lignes directrices sur les pratiques exemplaires, reconnu mondialement. L’AIIAO continue d’influencer les politiques, de renforcer les capacités et de promouvoir l’excellence infirmière. A clarion call from the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario #RNAO is being answered as we speak, with an announcement that the provincial government intends to invest $1.8 billion dollars over the next four years to address the crisis in primary care #PrimaryCare The news is being delivered by Health Minister @SylviaJonesMPP and the head of Ontario’s Primary Care Action Team, Dr. @janephilpott during a press conference at Queen’s Park.
