Plant fossils show continental #Europe was warm and wet in the middle Cenozoic, but the British isles’ paleoclimate has been less studied. Analysis of #fossil pollen reveals these islands may have had rainforests in the Oligocene but were as cold as today in the early Miocene.

A project led by @NPL for @UK_CleanAir has reviewed technologies used for #AirQuality monitoring to ensure they provide reliable data. We co-deliver the Clean Air programme with @NERCscience and have produced a new blog about the project ⤵️

As part of @UK_CleanAir, we’ve been contributing to a project developing a new high-res air quality modelling system, using the @metoffice Unified Model. This helps improve our simulations, making them more useful for understanding  air pollution. metoffice.gov.uk/research/appro… 1/3 🧵
