The speed of this economic contraction will knock the air out of your lungs. The fastest in living memory, possibly in history is now upon us.

"Just because you’ve got a flag in your van and you scream at people in the street doesn’t make you a patriot." Chancellor Rachel Reeves tells Channel 4 News' Economics Editor Helia Ebrahimi that being a patriot is about "loving this country and treating other people with respect", after being heckled during a previous interview.

The fourth paragraph is interesting because Lord Denning misunderstands what he's seeing. What he's seeing is ethnic solidarity. What he THINKS he's seeing is the corruption of their home countries lingering after they've moved here. He doesn't realise that they will ALWAYS behave this way, as long as they remain ethnically distinct from the majority. Hence, 45 years later, the current case with those Muslims who punched a white police woman, or the Sikh family conspiring against Henry Nowak, or indeed the countless Pakistani grooming gangs with their relatives covering for them.
James Fulford@JMF1958

Lord Denning had to retire after pointing out black jury nullification in the Brixton Riots of 1980. 12 accused rioters had a total of 36 jury challenges, which they used to challenge all white men. They ended up with five black people on the jury, which let the rioters go free.

The James Webb Space Telescope has done it again: revealing a breathtaking structure now dubbed the “Cosmic Vine”: a string of 20 galaxies stretching across a staggering 13 million light-years! What makes this discovery so shocking? This colossal formation dates back nearly 11 billion years, forming just 3 billion years after the Big Bang, a time when galaxies were thought to still be forming in isolated clumps. Instead, JWST captured a massive, organized structure linking galaxies together much earlier than expected. [image: artist's impression]

@DanielJHannan She's a Fabian, intent on ruining the lives of British people without pause for thought. She deserves far worse, you sanctimonious spineless jelly.

I sense that this is out of temper with the times but, for once, I am on Rachel Reeves’s side. Civility matters in politics and, if we stop policing the boundaries, things slide very quickly. I’m afraid I don’t see it as remotely brave to shout at a woman while you drive away.

@VinnieSull1van Lots of blokes who fought in the war found themselves in their old age living in utter poverty in the 1970s, abandoned by the government.

The somber, and lonely existence of Mrs King who lived alone on £5 week (£2 pension) in the 1970s. If, post WW2, as much was done for the people of Britain as for the banking industry, then such suffering wouldn't have taken place. High interest loans to the "government" ensured that the people who deserved the most help, received as little as possible.

I just asked @DaveHcontrarian about the other side of the next global bust, and he laid out a macro equation the financial system simply cannot solve. He projects central banks will be forced to print upwards of $50 trillion to save the system, driving inflation to 25% and pushing interest rates into the high teens. But with global debt swelling to $450 trillion, the math completely breaks down. As he told me: "We can't service our debt at 5%. I don't know how we're gonna service it at 15 or 20%." Very telling scene. No wit, no charm, no clever comeback or fiery riposte, just a sanctimonious telling-off in that awful nagging voice of hers, like an infant school teacher scolding Billy for not sharing his toys nicely.

OH DEAR Rachel Reeves heckled by white van man as she visits a petrol station. “Get Starmer out! Get Labour out! You’re ruining the country! Are you going to arrest me for having an England flag? Get Farage in!” She lectures the guy about “manners”
