Dr Marwan Al Sultan a cardiologist in Gaza. He was killed by the IDF along side his beautiful family while at home in an airstrike. Only one cardiologist remains in Gaza. May he, his family, and the countless others rest in peace.

Today was a very special moment as I arrived at the EuroPCR 2025 in Paris and saw that they were handing out this magazine featuring an interview with me, to highlight my professional career profile. It is a great honor to have been selected, especially considering that in previous years they interviewed pioneers such as Dr. Alain Cribier, who performed the first transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), and Dr. Cindy Grines, who led groundbreaking studies on angioplasty for acute myocardial infarction. They truly changed the world of interventional cardiology: today, angioplasty and stenting are standard of care for heart attacks, and TAVR has replaced surgical aortic valve replacement for many patients. I hope my studies on transcatheter mitral valve replacement can also help change the world and contribute to more patients receiving mitral valve repair or replacement without the need for open-heart surgery. 1/4 Just publ in the Lancet our updated network meta-analysis of imaging-guided (OCT or IVUS) vs. angio-guided PCI across the spectrum of CAD. With 22 RCTs and 15,964 pts this is the 1st study to demonstrate that imaging reduces all-cause death (by 25%), as well as all MI (17%).
