2nd graders had a blast reviewing rhythms they learned this year by making rhythm hopscotch boards outside. @FineArtsHCPS @cveschargers

Relay to refresh! Students renewed their social contract by having a relay race between Clubhouses to sort our contract words into the RISE expectations. We then had a group discussion to create and sign our new contracts. Way to show teamwork, Chargers!

Our Pre-K musicians are learning about The Nutcracker with help from 5th grade ballerina Sadie. Sadie has been in an annual production of The Nutcracker and stopped by the music room to teach our youngest learners ballet positions. They had a blast!

Dot Day Project: Each student added a dot onto the staff on the board as they went to line up. I added stems and some chords underneath, and now we have a class song! I love what we created together!

This is what differentiation could look like for a composition assignment - providing visuals, manipulatives (the rhythms on the bottom are stickers), and this-or-that options. I loved how this made composing easier for some of our striving learners!

Did you know literacy and music are better together? Third graders demonstrate phonological awareness and work on musicianship by determing the rhythm of a song based on the syllables in each heartbeat. I love their focus! @cveschargers @FineArtsHCPS

5th Grade had fun playing silent rhythm ball today with the added challenge of saying and clapping the right dynamics. Great way for a fun, quick assessment! #shinebrightCVES @FineArtsHCPS @cveschargers

Kindergarten stars helped each other read high low patterns that they composed to perform on the xylophone. They were so excited to share their musical masterpieces with the class!

1st graders worked together to sort rhythm flashcards into duple or triple meter. Then they combined and practiced the rhythms to create and perform a duple song and triple song for the class.

Fourth graders reviewed the elements of music by composing their own program music inspired by the paintings of Kandinsky. They then wrote an artist statement explaining their musical choices using vocabulary that we learned in class. Thank you @Mhoppenstein for the art collab!

4th graders worked in small groups to write the rhythm syllables and perform the new dotted quarter note/ eighth note patterns on the board. Each student picked a different rhythm that they had to teach their teammates. Loved using this small group strategy!

Just like the second grade teachers brought music into their lessons, I brought poetry into mine! Second graders discovered the meter of a poem they learned in phonics by emphasizing beat 1 of each measure. Thanks @MsJBroyles and @MsKreisCVES for the great ideas!
