Yesterday, a Lowe’s subcontractor delivered mulch. Instead of placing the mulch on the tarp as instructed, he put the bags practically on top of my rhododendrons in a flower bed. He kicked the tarp out of his way instead of following directions. I quickly realized the man did not speak English. Based on his appearance and immigration trends in my area, I’m guessing he is from West Africa, likely Nigeria.
I know this is going to sound radical, but I don’t think we need to bring in Africans to deliver mulch. I think there are plenty of American teenagers and young adults who could do this job quite well and even follow directions.
