This is what I mean. Japan has always had a fascination with different cultures. Arabian style designs show up A LOT in different Japanese media. They pay tribute to it and use it to influence their own work, and people nowadays see that as "exploitation."

The Gerudo were based on Arabia because it's a fun setting to play around with. The designs were memorable and they became a fan favorite in Zelda. Objectively the best way to introduce a new culture to an audience of kids. But now that's bad because "Orientalism."
