My poem for "A Cure for Them" got translated into Spanish, and a corresponding video made to mirror the one I produced last year! Whaaaat?! Humbled, honoured, overwhelmed. Thank you to Monica Roa and the team at Bridges/Puentes for this work of art. youtube.com/watch?v=SUX-05…

The emissions reduction plan announced today has some great initiatives. What's missing from the conversation is the necessary transition towards a #circulareconomy, and the massive collective mind shift we need to get there. $$ needed here. linkedin.com/pulse/what-fut…

I’ve got some exciting personal news to share. I’ve been appointed as the first Country Lead for the Wellbeing Economy Alliance in Aotearoa. I believe the most important mission facing us is building an economy that works for people & the planet

“Taking a long-time view allows us to see capitalism for what it really is: a flawed narrative, rather than an innate mathematical truth” - Ella Saltmarsh @saltsea on the @LongTimeProject podcast. Yuss! It’s just a story, people. Let’s tell a new one.

I had so much fun recording this podcast with @HarvNZ about my new book! If you like your podcasts raw and uncut, and aren't adverse to the odd bit of, errm, "colourful language", give it a listen ;)

This should be all over the front pages. The government's terminating our right to protest, through amendments sneaked into the Police Bill at the last minute. It's the biggest assault on democracy in 70+ years, and hardly anyone seems to know. My column theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

The 5am start was to give me time to prep for a TV interview. Now the toddler is awake I will have time to EITHER write out my notes or have a shower & wash my hair. I’ll be writing out my notes because I‘d much rather appear ragged than foolish. This is also why I like radio.

I’ve massively reduced how much alcohol I consume but still sometimes fancy a beer. Until now I hadn’t found a non-alcoholic beer that I really liked. @Garage_Project has changed that. May I recommend to you Tiny But Mighty, a no-regrets hazy IPA

@plainricedinner I've used it more in the past for indie films, but have always wished they did more books. Amazon links suck, yes, but when you're a tiny startup that provides free content matching for queer/feminist/alt audiences, affiliate links give you $.

@AliJacs I think you're the first person I've talked to who have actually heard of them? Curious as to what you love about the platform? I had a look at their catalogue when the funding news came out and found it pretty parse in NZ lit, and also the purchase links were for Amazon

Experiencing huge cognitive dissonance seeing a job ad for Narrative Muse. Pretty fucked that I could apply for their Senior Full Stack Developer role and ask for market rate pay (120k+ pa). Meanwhile I have a CNZ application ready to ask for 24k for 6 months to write a novel

@plainricedinner Ah, got it. Yeah, that's a shame for the writers that missed out, but it's hardly fair to call NM an unknown literary project. I've been using their platform for years and love it. and I know they've struggled to pay devs what they're worth.

@plainricedinner Do you mean no one in tech or books was consulted on the NM job ad? Or CNZ's funding rates. Or does CNZ fund NM?

I realise it's not specifically NM's problem that this happens, but I'd really expect better decision making from funding bodies. Obviously neither a person in the tech industry nor the books industry was consulted on this
