The one thing I had to look forward to was the Prada 2 release, and I couldn’t even schedule the production’s day off to match it. Now I’ll just be watching it four days later…

Few notes on the #Cannes2026 lineup • Need Thierry Fremaux to give me Herzog more than anything else. It has been too long since Legend Rooney Mara was given a meaty role. • I don’t think Malick is happening any time soon. • So many gay filmmakers competing for the Palme including a Spanish film that has Glenn Close (!!!!) • So excited for the first timers in Comp. Especially Sorogoyen, Mysius, Grisebach and Bourgeois-Tacquet. • Laila Marrakchi going back to Cannes after MaRock (2005) • The weakest Cannes Premiere lineup since the conception of it. At least on paper.

Tried to revisit an old comfort show and dove back into the world of Breaking Bad. I couldn’t last more than two episodes. I think it requires a different mindset than the one I am in right now. So I went back to the world of The Good Fight and it is so transporting. I love Michelle and Robert King. They are great writers and among the best to ever do it plus you can easily see that in the expertise and depth they use to construct their guest characters. You could build a rich and successful spinoff around most of them.

Rob Reiner really nailed it casting Billy Crystal as a romantic lead. He is completely irresistible in When Harry Met Sally…. First time watching and the hype is real. Nora Ephron’s writing is sharp, but honestly the real MVP is the fashion.

It is important to talk about the scars that last a lifetime, wounds that are often passed down to future generations by parents who were unable to love or care in the way they should have. People cannot truly understand or give love if they never received it from its original source with unconditional care. So much of the suffering we see in the world can be traced back to this absence, or to those who have lived through it. This is also how narcissists are shaped. They carry those scars with them, and in many ways, they are defined by them. Kudos to the creators of this show. Every emotion feels earned and intact. There is no excess and no wasted moment. Each episode is tightly crafted. Sameh Alaa, in his first long format project, shows the promise of a major filmmaker in the making. I highly recommend his Palme d’Or winning short “I Am Afraid to Forget Your Face”. Riham Abdel Ghafour is simply extraordinary. She has earned her place through constant growth and dedication, continuing to refine and master her craft. Acting is not just about charisma or being told you are naturally likable. It is a discipline that requires consistency, effort, and a deep commitment to improvement. #حكاية_نرجس
