Adoringly Shire is found at 10 Germain Street. McKim says they'll be serving free lunches to local LGBTQ+ students weekdays from 12-1:15 p.m., offer peer support from 1:30 - 3 p.m., an after-school space from 3-5 & then shift towards welcoming the city's broader queer community.

"The Shire" is open. Local LGBTQ+ activist Alice McKim's new venture, Adoringly Shire, is part community hub, part student resource centre. She and partner Marike Hachemer say they hope to see those who use the space make it their own.

💯 this. There is nothing wrong with a trans child. It's immoral to suggest otherwise. The damage done by a world that suggests otherwise is damage later used to justify "just protecting them from a difficult life". It has to stop.

I believe people fall into this position through ignorance more than malice. So acknowledge ignorance about trans kids' lives, reach out and be willing to learn. I'm fierce on twitter, but friendly in real life. (Friendly for anyone centring trans kids' best interests)

Honestly trans kids are so far from being protected, even those advocating for a trans-inclusive conversion therapy ban do so whilst legitimising pathlogising & harmful practices targeting trans kids. 1/3

Trans people: We all know that there's some dysphoria you just can't get rid of. So I ask: what are some techniques you use to MANAGE dysphoria? I'm talking thought exercises, mindfulness techniques, lifestyle changes, etc for those times the gender poo brain just wont leave.
