It’s official!! Today, I graduated from @BrownUniversity with a PhD in BME! I’m extremely blessed to be a first-gen pioneer who’s also leaving a legacy as one of the first black women to earn a PhD from @brownengin! Congrats to @PhDKiaraLee for making history with me #Brown2023

Today, we are celebrating the extensive accomplishments of recently graduated, award winning Dr. Kiara Lee, Ph.D. (@PhDKiaraLee)! Dr. Lee has achieved so much during her time at Brown, and she makes our lab and @Brown_BME @brownengin @Brown_SPH communities proud! Read on:

In May I graduated from Brown with my PhD and master’s degrees! To keep this short, thank you to everyone that has come along with me in this journey. S/o to @AliciaJMinor, as we were the first Black women to graduate with a PhD from @brownengin . We’re just getting started 😉

It’s hard to describe the reasons why achieving this milestone (esp in my area of research) seemed physically impossible and holds so much meaning for me, my lineage, and loved ones in 280 chars so I’ll just say this: I’m so lucky & so happy I’m here. Happy graduation friends!
