I endured just five hours of illegal detention. Thousands endure far worse for far longer at the hands of Sindh Police. I can't begin to imagine their ordeal. If we speak for those with lesser privileges, many more could come home too. Thank you @MJibranNasir, Karachi civil society and media comrades.

Journalist @AlifyaSohail who was present at Karachi Press Club to cover the protest today against 27th Amendment between 4-5pm has been arrested shortly afterwards as per the last message received from her at 5.25pm after which her number has been switched off. Alifya has consistently covered civil society protests and specially missing persons cases and BYC led protests in Karachi. Here whereabouts remain unknown. The Govt will condemn harassment of a journalist if it suits their narrative but will arrest and abduct journalists without accountability if they dare cover the truth against them. Hundreds of articles are written about Pakistan every day covering all kinds of topics. Yet Arifa chose just this one paragraph about the officer. Is it personal obsession or an attempt to push an anti-state narrative? Either way, this is clearly taken out of context and spiced up for effect. I double checked The officer cannot respond freely due to government restrictions. Lets stick to facts instead of manufacturing drama and move on. Kudos on the views though.

In that difficult time, God sent us Hadi Ali Chattha and Imaan Mazari, who exposed these false cases and secured bail for many of our children. We forgot about poet Mudassar Naaru who disappeared 8 years ago; his wife Sadaf who died of uncertainty 5 years ago; and their son Sachal, an eight year old orphan. Today, his dadi is forced to ask not only for her son’s freedom, but also for that of his lawyer, Imaan Mazari — the one person who didn’t forget. #ReleaseImaanAndHadi
