In 4 rounds, 20+ GPU experiments, ZERO human intervention. Free. Here is what actually happened. A Chinese researcher built a workflow where Claude Code does the research while you sleep. Not just reading papers. Actually running GPU experiments, analyzing results, rewriting the narrative, killing claims that did not hold up, and iterating until the paper is good enough to submit. Then it stops. They ran it overnight on a real ML paper. This is what the scoreboard looked like in the morning. ↳ Start of night: 5.0 out of 10. Borderline reject ↳ Round 1: 6.5. Added standard metrics, found a metric decoupling problem ↳ Round 2: 6.8. A key claim failed to reproduce. The system pivoted the narrative on its own ↳ Round 3: 7.0. A large seed study killed the main improvement claim. The system adapted ↳ Round 4: 7.5. Diagnostic evidence locked in. Submission ready No human touched it between round 1 and round 4. Here is the part that makes this different from every other AI research tool. Claude Code handles the execution. Reading files, writing code, SSHing into GPU servers, running experiments, collecting results. But a completely separate model handles the evaluation and scoring. Neither model grades its own work. That separation is what creates a real feedback loop instead of an AI just telling itself it did well. The system also has rules it cannot break. ↳ maximum 4 rounds, no infinite loops ↳ experiments over 4 GPU hours get flagged for human review, not run automatically ↳ explicit rule: do not hide weaknesses to game a positive score ↳ must actually implement fixes before resubmitting, no empty promises There is also a second workflow for literature discovery. You give it a research area, it searches arXiv and Google Scholar, maps the landscape, finds the gaps, and tells you where the opportunities are. Academic labs pay for expensive compute clusters and teams of PhD students to do exactly this kind of overnight iteration. Someone just built the whole system, put it on GitHub under MIT license, and wrote the README in both English and Chinese. I still do not understand why this is not everywhere yet. But it will be soon.
