@northernassist The person has done this and appealed and has been told they cannot take into account that he has no money and would have to go without food to pay. Surely you have some way of considering people in this position?

@northernassist how is it possible please to appeal against penalty for someone seeking asylum, living on £47.39 a week and unable to pay without going without food ? The appeal process apparently does not allow hardship as grounds for waiving of a fine incurred through a mistake

@northernassist Your appeal process says they are not able to treat inability to pay as grounds for waiving the fine. That is why I am contacting you instead of the appeals process

On World Refugee Day, I'm sharing my humble journey from seeking safety to becoming a doctor: . 1999 - forced to leave family in Afghanistan to seek safety in UK aged 15 having lived childhood in war and camps . 2001 - started college (A-levels) with not much formal education or command of English . 2003 - got admitted to study medicine at @Cambridge_Uni despite many discouraging, saying I wasn't white and not educated enough . 2006 - graduated from Cambridge and finished studies at Harvard and Imperial despite battling PTSD and loneliness . 2010 - qualified as a doctor, and have since been proudly serving people in the NHS and 🌎 as a doctor. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt on this journey, it’s this - refugees are not victims. We are survivors, dreamers, contributors. The bravery of all those who seek safety should be celebrated.

My letter to the Home Secretary. She is offended by Gary Lineker? I am offended by her Bill.
