@thomaswhartley In coaching, dressage judging and everyday life…..? Some more than others. I’m left wondering how much we mitigate bias by knowing about it? Also, are some personality traits more likely to succumb to certain biases?

If you’re really honest, how many of these biases play out in your coaching environment?

Maybe you’ve come across 'Thinking Fast and Slow' ('Noise), which explains much about how we make decisions. This short memory of Daniel Kahneman includes a bit about how the final moments of an experience can colour the entire memory of what happened. lnkd.in/erBjn29r

Excellent piece - worth a read by all coaches and sport psychs. “Her brain didn't need to be fixed or tweaked, just understood by those around her…By changing the environment around her… she found the freedom to exist and perform unhindered.” bbc.co.uk/sport/rowing/6…

What sort of #coach are you? It should be an easy question after doing this job for so long but I still have no answer.

Full on coaching today so I’m in my happy space. Thought number two for Twitter today : I admire teachers- they do so much more than teach. They are another caring profession: for the children, their families and their future as good social citizens.

Coaching conversations always get me thinking, not just during, but afterwards too. This is reflection, it doesn’t have to be spoken or written to be useful. One of my musings today was about failure and how different it might look from a variety of perspectives.

Happy day at Hartpury #festivalofdressage writing for international judges watching international para riders. I’ve left inspired. If people with disabilities can communicate so well with their horses then we should all be able to find a way

We have so many good and worthwhile things to do, read and watch. They all have some value so we have to choose which we can neglect. This is why it is so hard. The choice to not do something isn’t necessarily a judgement on its value.
