Legislation to tackle the biggest cause of cancer in the UK was brought to Parliament today. Raising the age of sale of tobacco would help prevent future generations from ever starting smoking. We urge all MPs to vote in favour of this important step towards a #SmokefreeUK.🚭

We're delighted that legislation to raise the age of sale for tobacco was reintroduced to Parliament today.  Smoking is still the biggest cause of cancer in the UK, causing around 160 cases every day. We now urge MPs across the UK to support it to help create a #SmokefreeUK.

It was great to hear the Leader of the Opposition reaffirm his support for the Tobacco and Vapes Bill. Ending cancers caused by smoking is key to helping everyone in the UK live longer, better lives. #SmokefreeUK #LongerBetterLives

Round 2 here we go! Thrilled to have it announced in the #KingsSpeech that a bill to progressively increase the age of sale of tobacco products will be introduced. Bold action like this one will help us end cancers caused by smoking for good & achieve a #SmokefreeUK.

We are among the organisations that have signed an open letter to the new Government urging them to reintroduce the Tobacco and Vapes Bill in the first King’s Speech on 17 July. This is a vital step towards a #SmokefreeUK and reducing the number of cancers caused by smoking 🚭

Sadly this #WorldNoTobaccoDay we no longer have the Tobacco & Vapes Bill in parliament but that hasn’t changed how needed or popular this policy is. All parties must commit to raising the age of sale of tobacco & the next UK Govt should introduce it in the King’s Speech.

If the UK Government confirm the Tobacco and Vapes Bill will not become a new law, this will be a disheartening day for people affected by cancer, health professionals and campaigners who have worked tirelessly to save lives. Today I gave evidence at the Tobacco and Vapes Bill Committee in UK Parliament. At @CR_UK we fully support the legislation to help create the first #SmokefreeGeneration and I urged the MPs present to back it in full. Together with supporters, this is what we’ve been campaigning for: to prevent young people developing an addiction to tobacco and reduce their risk of cancer.
