@HappyThurifer I had two Antiochian Orthodox priests attend my institution as rector! I am thankful for their prayers
English

@American_Johnny As I said, these thoughts are about more than just one person's story. I intentionally did not tag or quote your thread because I'm not out to dunk. Seek Christ, trusting in his unfailing grace. And there is more to any church than what one hour on one particular Sunday reveals
English

@AllThingsNec In a context where Anglo-Catholic ACNA members are being guilted into returning to TEC & told to visit supposed traditionalist parishes to see what we're missing, yes we're going to judge it & compare it to our own parishes. I was only looking to "buy" what reconquista sells.
English

@Young_Anglican @drewcollins I think yesterday was "Youth Sunday" for a number of Episcopal churches
English

@drewcollins If you watch the livestream, the "homily" was replaced by a student graduation speech from a notable youth worker at the church. Not ideal, I would say it is improper, but it isn't just skipped over.
English

Wow. Some thoughts.
1. The 1979 isn't surprising for a TEC parish at this point -- my commitment to historical Prayerbooks is well known, but it's what you're going to get in TEC.
2. While the tie dye paraments and vestments (definitely, emphatically) aren't my taste, that's adiaphora.
3. The lack of any kind of sermon or homily is the biggest and most concerning element. It's clearly called for and not something to be dispensed with.

*THREAD*... With all the talk about TEC lately, I was challenged to visit a "conservative" parish from the reconquista map... so I visited St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Cleveland, TN, as it was the only church on the map within 2 hours of me. Historic church right in downtown.

@Young_Anglican playing to AI's finger hallucination strengths
English

@HappyThurifer @Make_it_Raines I meant it in all good fun and games. I would say I have been ordained twice. I voluntarily surrendered the UM credentials upon confirmation in TEC, so a kind of laying down of the first ordination. It did come with grief
English

@AllThingsNec @Make_it_Raines Oh Fr. All Things Necessary, it's all fun and games and posting the sermons of dead bishops, and then someone asks a question like that and it all becomes very real.
But aren't you in a better position than me to answer that question? Having decided to become Episcopalian?

@HappyThurifer @Make_it_Raines Mmm, yes, I think that is the one.
So, Fr. Christopher, perhaps you can settle something for me. As a former United Methodist presbyter, have I been ordained once or twice?
English

@AllThingsNec @Make_it_Raines I've been wondering if there is a good Greek word for superintendent??? Maybe ἐπίσκοπος?
