Very sad to hear of the passing of Nikki Pilic. We reached the WCT playoffs in 1973 which clashed with Yugoslavia’s Davis Cup match and he showed great loyalty to me and was suspended by the federation which resulted in the player boycott of Wimbledon. Never forgotten.

I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Australian tennis legend Neale Fraser. I was in his Davis Cup team in his first year as captain in 1970. His commitment to the Davis Cup and Australian tennis was unparalleled.

@walshcee Brian changed the face of Australian tennis with John Cain when they managed the building of Melbourne Park and moving the Australian Open from Kooyong LTC. He was an outstanding administrator and was ranked in the top 10 in Australia.

As an aside, there were some superb pics of Brian in the archives today, a few of which are attached. A trip down memory lane.

The best feature of a Djokovics win for me was his brilliant volleying.A reminder to other players!

Simple fix to players extended breaks during matches….. a break at 2 sets to 1 in men’s and 1 set all in women’s as was the format for many years.

Sitting at a restaurant in Palma following the 5th set of Alcaraz/Djokovic on the mobile. The restaurant erupted when Alcaraz won. The bells chimed in the church next door! Divine approval!

@AllanJStone Allan, have you seen this? 3rd set of a doubles in a Aus v ROW event (I think). You played particularly well, I reckon, especially after being called in due to someone else getting injured. youtube.com/watch?v=CSCFmp…

I have commentated on tennis for 45 years and enjoyed every moment. The luckiest part of this journey has been that it coincided with the career of Roger Federer. His contribution to the sport on a world wide basis has been unparalleled. The best of the best Allan Stone

Very sad to hear of the passing of former Australia Tournament director Col Stubs. Col was a fine player in his own right and I have fond memories of travelling on the international circuit with him early in my career. A fierce competitor and a man of great integrity. Rolling

Congratulations on a great career Sue. You started as a member of our Commentary on Seven’s Summer of Tennis in the 1980’s. You were one of the best commentators I have ever worked with and I wish you well in the future. Best wishes Allan Stone

I always thought Ash Barty would retire early…… not just this early. She has made a huge impact on the tennis world and that will continue in the other paths she chooses to take. She retires with the best wishes of all Australians. Allan Stone
