We have published research in @PLOS exploring cigarette affordability in Malaysia between 2009-2019 which finds that cigarettes in the country became more affordable over most of the study years, emphasising the need for stronger tobacco tax policy. Read: doi.org/10.1371/journa…

Earlier this week, as this event came under scrutiny, PMI was removed from the "Guests" page on the website. The full participant list ⬇️ now reveals 4 PMI executives will attend, the most from any single company (exc. Globsec). #ExposeTobacco web.archive.org/web/2022100709…

Were national policymakers and officials from @EU_Commission, @OECD and @WorldBank informed that #cigarettes giant PMI is the strategic partner for the Globsec event, or was that information withheld? Partner details were only added to the event website this week. #ExposeTobacco

PMI finances "independent reports" on the status of illicit cigarettes in several regions. A former PMI partner claims in the NY court that these reports are biased and suggests data manipulation. Eager to see the outcome of this complaint. occrp.org/en/daily/13413… via @OCCRP
