Chairman Mao's situation reminded me of my 2020 when I stood for youths chairperson of my village and won. I proceeded to LC II where voting was done from the committees at LC I. Of my 8 people (Plus me the 9th), I got only 6 votes. Even the fools that I had hunted down from their homes and appointed didn't vote me. That's when I gave up on village politics. And previously when Hon. Mukasa Mbidde @Mbidde said that he had never won an election where voters included those that hadn't sat S6, I understood.

Also shocking is how many people were recruited by Anita Among at parliament since she took over! The figure being thrown about is 500, one source tells me it is higher than that. Most of her allies - including judicial officers - had their sons, daughters, & spouses at parliament. Many hitherto hard-working staff of parliament from years before got demoralised when people less qualified, where irregularly recruited, & promoted over them. Even worse, some found themselves sent to areas they had zero expertise in. A lawyer was transferred from the legal department to library! In some cases, entire departments saw significant changes. Parliament is said to have had a simple sick bay before she took over. Then, friends sent their sons and daughters who are medical officers to recruit, so an entire department of health was created with several nurses. The same is true for the gym which was expanded exponentially. #UgandaParliamentExhibitionII

Last evening, at the ongoing @NRMOnline leaders’ retreat in Kyankwanzi, we had the honour of being hosted by H.E. @KagutaMuseveni for a bull-roasting event. At the event, the President used the occasion to remind us of the core duty of leadership: to stay grounded among the people. He urged us to understand our constituencies–household by household–identify who is participating in the money economy, support them to improve through government programs, and actively guide communities toward practical, wealth-creating activities. On behalf of my colleagues, I expressed our gratitude to the President for his continued leadership and guidance. I also reaffirmed our commitment, as Members of Parliament, to work together as one system in support of national development. The mandate given to us by the people calls for unity of purpose, not division, as we collectively drive Uganda’s socio-economic transformation. As we approach the conclusion of the retreat, I am inspired by the enthusiasm and readiness of my colleagues to take on this responsibility to serve Ugandans.
