The 5th graders designed, built, and tested model homes to be resilient in the face of extreme weather. They learned how to make detailed, scaled blueprints and to include natural barriers for storm surges (salt marshes and oyster reefs).

The 7th graders visited the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s DNA Learning Center to collect samples of their own mitochondrial DNA and to use PCR to amplify a section of their own mitochondrial DNA and agarose gel electrophoresis to confirm the result. #AllenStevensonScience
