This is the exact scenario that makes me hesitant on the whole religion aspect. I’ve had this conversation with my husband (who is an atheist) so many times. And one thing that always comes up in our discussion is God’s forgiveness. I can’t wrap my head around how a person could commit such horrible atrocities like rape and murder and as long as they ask God for forgiveness and accept him into their hearts, all is forgiven and they can go to heaven. But someone who spent their entire lives being good and kind and caring and dedicated their life to helping people will still go to hell simply bc they don’t believe. That just doesn’t make sense to me.
