We are saddened by the loss of Calli Newberry @newberry_calli Calli was full of passion, kindness & talent! She was the heart & soul reporter of the blue water athletic community! She will be deeply missed. The Imlay City girls basketball community sends thoughts and prayers✝️

I’m just in shock right now. What Calli Newberry did for all the blue water area sports that she covered, wrote about, and the communities she impacted during her career. Just crazy to think I saw her just last month at girls soccer against Algonac at home. Calli you were someone I looked up to as well as a friend. You’ll never be forgotten and you’ll be truly missed❤️.

I'm honestly at a loss for words, so the best I can offer is some photos of Calli doing what she was so great at. The area has lost not only its best sports reporter, but also one of its greatest people.

I don’t know… it just doesn’t feel real yet. Calli was great to work with when we’d cover the same games, loved telling the stories of all our area athletes, and just an incredible person. Life just ain’t fair. A pure soul gone way, way too soon. We will miss you Calli.

Our hearts go out to the Newberry family. Such a devastating loss for them and our community. Our thoughts and prayers will be with them always.
