This is the remains of a 30-something-year-old ancient Roman who appears to have survived the initial volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, only to be decapitated by a large 600-pound (272 kg) stone projectile. However, that hypothesis was dismissed a few weeks later when archaeologists uncovered his skull (with a complete set of teeth) and upper torso, both found buried directly under the skeleton. Archaeologists believe that his skeleton was most likely severed during an earlier excavation in the mid-to-late 18th century when a tunnel was burrowed underneath. When that tunnel collapsed, the skull and upper torso broke off from the rest of the skeleton. As for how the Pompeii man died, archaeologists now believe that he most likely suffocated from the pyroclastic flow that spewed from the eruption. He was also discovered with a pouch around his neck containing silver and bronze coins. Perhaps he was a merchant trying to make a mad dash with his life savings before his life came to a sudden end.

Why do they have a full clock on #Countdown when they only ever use half of it?

Why isn’t the university marking boycott getting more news coverage? Up to 1 in 3 final year students are currently learning they won’t graduate with a grade because of the pay dispute. My daughter - along with many others - has been offered £500 as compensation. After spending £27,750 on course fees, and countless hours and stress doing a dissertation that she was proud of, but has now been told may never be marked. This is outrageous. Quite rightly, students are saying they will tear up their unclassified degrees, because this is offensive. These are the kids who didn’t get to do A levels, because of COVID. They are being let down horrendously. I believe we need to do more to stand up and say this situation is unacceptable. Disputes happen. The grown ups should sort it out and do the right thing by these students now #standwithstudents
