As @afneil points out, the absurdly lax points-based system introduced under Boris Johnson was sold as a means of controlling and reducing immigration. We at MW warned it would do the opposite. We were right. Just admit it, Mr Gove.

Yes. Insane! They either don’t know what they’re doing or know full well what will happen and that is the reason behind the crazy scheme. Very surprised at Shabana Mahmood, who, until now, appeared to be on the more sensible wing of Labour immigration policy.

The Government's plan to stop illegal immigration? Just let everybody come here legally. The idea of letting 'community groups' sponsor refugees is insane. It'll mean chain migration from all over the world, all enabled by activist charities.
