@Alph4M00n I think you might be overestimating how much information a proxy service would have. Many (most?) proxies just buy as a normal consumer, and then mail the item to the customer. Why would they have digital access to additional testing documentation?

the only thing that changed was how the importers file and maybe some extra stuff they have to file, the current cases that have been confiscated are just edge cases of being unlucky and the importers filing improperly.

@PiersSPS depends on the HST code it's assigned. CPSC have a list of codes that are mandatory to test, while others are subjected to more frequent random searches. im not sure how the tests work as i havent looked into that, but this post might help.

@DawnofDragalia no, proxies like Buyee have the required information to file. the certificates havent changed and those required the same information as they do now.

@Alph4M00n isn't the problem that proxies become almost completely unviable because they don't typically have the required information to file, as opposed to a manufacturer or a major retailer? that was the most worrying thing going around

@Alph4M00n You're ignoring the point that proxies like Buyee use those same codes that include toys and collectibles on the customs forms though, and they definitely won't have the proper paperwork since they're not the manufacturer but are treated as such since they are the 'importer'

@exchangespirit yes that's the importer, but the proxy service is responsible for filling out the forms as they have the information that is needed to fill them out. this has been the case and will continue to be the case. only certain items will be under more scrutiny from now on.

@Alph4M00n Isn't the importer the person/company receiving the goods? DHL is just a carrier.
The problem is individuals using proxies to ship exclusive items to the US don't have the necessary information to pass through customs.

@Alph4M00n My doll had the proper HTS code. All of the licca dolls destroyed had the proper codes. Check the licca subreddit - that was not an edge case it was hundreds of dolls destroyed.

@Marcie8th this shouldn't affect items sent from individuals as this bill only affects commercial (companies) entities. so you should be fine., but im not sure how customs work when sending gifts.

@Alph4M00n Are you able to confirm gifts sent by friends that typically don’t use the codes will just go as usual or are they going to mess it up and confiscate that too? I saw someone on here say their gift from a friend was seized by customs.

@BeforeThe_Night to my knowledge, as long as the person shipping your items labels everything and fills the customs forms correctly, they should be able to pass without problems; i'm not sure what would happened if it gets picked for random search.
