Creating a blockchain is not the same as creating a blockchain ecosystem.
A blockchain can be created in a day.
A blockchain ecosystem takes years to build and requires users, developers, and trust to grow.
That is why I believe Canopy's Blockchain Incubator Model identifies an industry challenge that is largely ignored.
Most of the industry is built on the expectation that new networks will quickly be able to function independently. Canopy's model creates a pathway for projects to demonstrate value and in turn, grow to be fully self-sufficient.
It is a philosophy that values progress over the expectation of perfection.
From the perspective of builders, it means they can focus on product development and not waste time on building the supporting ecosystem, if and when they even determine the ecosystem is necessary.
With the growing demand for specialized execution environments, the winning networks will be those that are able to improve, develop, and sustain themselves in the long run.

Never gave the shipping industry much thought until recently.

One thing I've started questioning is whether every blockchain really needs to solve the exact same problems.
An application built for institutions won't have the same priorities as a consumer app.
DeFi protocols have different requirements from gaming, and both are different again from RWA platforms.
That's why the "one chain fits all" approach feels increasingly limited to me.

I think that's an underrated shift.
