Iran is currently Paul Atreides standing on top of the pre-spice mass with the Water of Life threatening to bring all travel in the empire to a halt I know this is nerdy but trust me this is the perfect analogy

@Suicideofthewes @reg_pepe Oh yeah I use it in cooking all the time, it's important to getting the right taste in a bunch of (Americanized-)Chinese dishes. But shaoxing, cooking sherry, even bitters all have to conspicuously say they are not for drinking to avoid restrictions

@AlphonsUnem @reg_pepe I find shaoxing wine hilarious, "not for consumption" is on the label in the grocery store. In NYS, Grocery stores can only sell beer. I use shaoxing wine to make Singapore noodles.

@My_Constituents You probably can split base a sazerac if you go back far enough but the Benedictine and sweet vermouth make it different. No absinthe rinse either

The Hunter cocktail to start the night. 2.5 oz bourbon, 1/2 cherry liqueur, 1/4 maraschino, 3 dashes orange bitters. It's good, sweet ofc, but nothing I'm going crazy for

@Suicideofthewes @reg_pepe Yeah but you can find sochu/soju all over now. I guess I can find shaoxing wine in most grocery stores...

@AlphonsUnem @reg_pepe It is similar to Korea where it is swill. The India whiskeys are not bad, I don't think they are worth the money though and they are from India.

@Suicideofthewes @reg_pepe I can't name a single drink from that country except Tsingtsao (founded by Germans and Anglos) so I'm presuming they're either absolutely dependent on foreign products or drink complete swill

@Suicideofthewes @reg_pepe Because the Ch*namen heavily patronize my local costco they actually have a bunch of Japanese whiskeys and nice brandy/cognac in the glass box there

Ha. Zero likes or retweets. This fággot used to write for a Chicago newspaper but left because newspapers were soon to be dead he said. Looks like his career is dead. Also, why do you attach that gay picture to all your tweets, loser?

COLUMN: CINDERELLAS NO LONGER EXIST, BUT WE WON’T STOP SEARCHING FOR THEM IN MARCH open.substack.com/pub/jaymariott… What interests us in the NCAA tournament? Oh, High Point (over Wisconsin), Miami of Ohio (over SMU), Virginia Commonwealth (over North Carolina) and a crazy Siena story that rattled top-ranked Duke

@Suicideofthewes @reg_pepe Reg here had me try Glenfiddich 14 which is more bourbon-profile approachable but it really made me want a bourbon instead of more Scotch

@Suicideofthewes @reg_pepe I do need to try better Japanese whiskey. I have two bottles but one (Mars Iwai) is not very good and one is a plum whiskey, which is tasty especially in some cocktails but not a fair comparison

@Suicideofthewes @reg_pepe I really should grab a Glenlivit 12 from Costco one of these days - it's the cheapest place - both for myself to try and for guests since I know a few friends like it.

@AlphonsUnem @reg_pepe I will buy it if I can find it. I would advise starting with a Glenmorangie or Glenlivet. It is in the same vein as the bourbon and rye that you have now. Also to they are not super expensive either.

@Suicideofthewes @reg_pepe "Then try a Campbeltown". It was a Glen Scotia. I would not have used the term motor oil but in a sense it's impressive how massively different a "whisk(e)y" can taste

@Suicideofthewes @reg_pepe The other joker in this thread got me to drink a Scotch (from Campbeltown) that I described as "effervescent chemicals" and he called "motor oil" so I'm well aware of the range

@AlphonsUnem @reg_pepe I bought Ardbeg Corryvreckan this past Christmas. A top tier scotch is super smooth with great lingering flavor. The Corryvreckan made the standard 10 year Ardbeg taste like water. Scotch has a wide flavor profile. That is why I enjoy it.

@Suicideofthewes @reg_pepe The notes on these highlands sound good to me but I've already said my issues with an all-malt mashbill. Typically as bourbon ages you taste less and less grain, what's the deal with Scotch?
