We lost our dad early this morning. Finally freed from the shackles of dementia. It’s an evil disease took the one thing he cherished most — his dignity. Four years ago he was his normal effervescent self. Four months ago he stopped talking. Four weeks ago he became a prisoner of his own bed. Four days ago he went to sleep and never woke up. But I choose to remember Ezio Lombardi as the smartest man I’ve ever known. The man who gladly played the foil in all of my goofy videos. The man who came to this country with nothing but a 6th grade education and a pocket full of dreams. I’ll always cherish this chat we had in the car several years ago on his birthday. Rest easy, EasyE. You will always be my hero.

@adamcm777 and I took a lot of misplaced pride in not asking for help. We never wanted to burden anyone. We always believed we could pull through our challenges together. When Adam went to the hospital for the first time just one month ago, I had an overwhelming feeling that I needed help. He was going to have a long road to recovery, and the last thing I wanted to worry about was cooking for a few days. So I asked some dear friends to set up a meal train to help us while Adam rested and I became his on-call nurse. As you all know, that long recovery didn’t happen. He was taken from this world much too soon. If you feel called to donate, please only do so if it will not cause hardship, inconvenience, or discomfort in your own day-to-day life. Our family is so deeply grateful for the love and support we have already received. And if you are not able to donate monetarily, please know that your stories mean just as much, if not more. Tell his story. Share your memories of him, even if you never met him in person.
