Large asset managers get pressured into buying shares of persuasive companies. Having billions to deploy makes you a big target. I’m a small firm. No one’s interested in influencing where I invest my clients' assets. My client's money is not mine to buy friends or favors with.

“90% of mutual funds can’t beat the market. What makes you think you can?” Me: I’m not a mutual fund. I have the flexibility to invest my clients' assets in the right opportunities. A mutual fund is limited to where it can fit billions of dollars.

Always replace the word "pick" stocks with "research" stocks. Otherwise, you're confusing and harming people who don't know better.

I don’t recommend that you buy individual stocks unless you have a deep understanding of fundamental analysis. What I do recommend is that you develop a deep understanding of fundamental analysis or hire a professional. Otherwise, you’re working your whole life to save up only to invest in mediocrity, at best.

Fundamental analysis is the foundation upon which any solid investment or trading strategy is built. Without a solid foundation, your strategy can easily collapse.

Not every meal has to be a formal, prepared meal. The choice doesn’t have to be between DoorDash and the labor of cooking. You can have a can of sardines, a handful of nuts, and an apple. Feast like a king now and then, but not every day. You'll be ok.

@JosephKahn I can relate as a mom. All I want is to provide and see my loved ones thrive. I need little for myself. It is hard to spend on myself but easy to buy them anything.

After being a dad, I feel guilty if I spend too much on myself on anything. It feels like I'm taking away from my family. Every dollar should be for them. This is how dad clothes exist. I try to keep my lunch under $20. I can get grocery sushi for $12. I can kill at Panda Express for $15. Just grilled a Costco steak for dinner I split in half ($8). It doesn't matter how much money I make, the primal level of guilt I feel spending money on myself turns me monastic. However, I love spending money on the family. The joy of providing for them is the only reason I make money. That is the joy of being a man: how little can you spend on yourself and how much can you give your family?

I'm working from home today. I recognize this is a luxury, but I worked hard to build my own businesses so I could have this luxury. I skipped breakfast. Been at my computer since 6 AM. It's noon. This is my brunch. If this isn't upsetting enough, I'm using homemade butter.

@PSchiltzMSplus @LiquorAntics Especially. When you start to forget where you are, that's when you want the best care. I mean, I want my caregiver to walk me along the path at the beach and remind me where I am, and then remind me I wanted to get my hair done.

Retire at 62, you probably have 18 years to spend your portfolio. You might live to 100, but you aren't going a lot of places past 80. You have 18 years to blow through your 401k, Roth or investment portfolio. Social security after that. 8%. DEBATE!

What if we made fundamental math and reasoning skills a barrier to entry into debt? I mean, what if you had to pass a test proving you could calculate loan interest in order to qualify for a loan? Would the standard of quality in our education system improve if the health of the banking system depended on it?

An American checks her student loans. She borrowed $49,548.74. After 120 payments, she’s paid $25,558.36. Her current balance? $50,121.33. After PAYING $25k… she now owes MORE than she originally borrowed. This isn’t aid — it’s legalized USURY.

@justalexoki I benefit a lot from focusing on being grateful for everything that is good in my life. Things as simple as a warm bed to sleep in. My health. The people who care about me. My safety. The blessings we overlook. This keeps my head in the right place. I am content.

There have always been expensive lunch options. Those are for Kevin O'Leary. They're not for the person on the $70k salary. Live within your means or expand your means.
