Just finished participating in a seriously interesting roundtable about defining YA. Huge thanks to Elizabeth Leach-Leung, Emma Tueller Stone, and Daniel Freeman: I genuinely enjoyed our discussion, and am thankful to each of you for broadening my thinking! #YASA2025 #YALit

Currently attempting to ignore my election anger by listening to a fabulous #YASA2025 panel on “Twentieth-Century Serialized Youth Fiction,” featuring Susanne Abou Ghaida, Melanie J. Fishbane, Emily Hamilton-Honey… while simultaneously baking an apple pie. As you do. #YALit

And the tablecloths… it’ll sound ridiculous to anyone who hasn’t seen the play, but I full-on wept at the tablecloths and all the years and experiences they represented. I don’t know who came up with how those tablecloths would be used, but they are brilliant.

If you can see “The Years” at the Almeida in London, GO DO IT. I saw it last night, and I’m obsessed. Also: several men fainted during an earlier preview. I guess the reality of blood and women’s bodies and difficult choices is hard to watch. Anyway, here’s a little thread:🧵

Anyway. It’s probably obvious, but this play affected me in ways that will likely stay with me for some time. I’m thankful to have seen it. P.S. The personal—including, in this case, the communal “we” of women— IS political!

There’s so much more to be said about this play! What stood out was the polish: this play was *ready* to be performed. The pacing was quick while allowing for a ritardando in the moments that needed to be explored. The passing of Annie between each of the actors was seamless.
