@JimmyVielkind As the original sponsor of the bill, I intro'd in 2015, these amendments are unnecessary and would deprive many of the benefit of Medical Aid in Dying. The dying can't wait for an extended implementation and making them jump through hoops is cruel.

I hardly post on this platform, but this is a new level of unconscionable awful. Last year in NY alone, on ONE day, 1700 DV victims/survivors needs went unmet - do you have any idea how much worse that can be with this attitude?! Sickening.

We must pass my bill A.8635 to ensure formerly incarcerated women who were sexually assaulted in New York’s prison system and who filed #AdultSurvivorsAct claims can get their day in court. Justice has been delayed long enough.

Kidney failure, being on dialysis for years, severe neuropathy, losing limbs. Diabetes CAN be terminal. In 2022 101,209 people died in the US from diabetes.

Too many people are dying bc they’re unable to access or afford wanted and needed treatment. Assisted suicide exacerbates these disparities

States that have maid have seen tremendous uptick in hospice & palliative care utilization. I agree, healthcare disparities exist & there is tremendous work to be done - however passing (or not passing) maid has 0 to do with it.

@NYSCatholicConf @_rebeccaclewis If your arguments have nothing to do with religion, perhaps you shouldn’t be the messenger. When considering this law lawmakers should listen to doctors - like MSSNY or NYSAFP - who would be affected - not religious institutions who perpetuate fear.
