How naive and stupid one has to be to think that Malayalis have made some form of meat their central identity when their defiance actually represents their freedom of choice! One that every Indian should assert in this asinine environment. No one makes food their identity unless you have dietary tribalism. And if you want to be a cultist that's ok too but you dont get to impose it on others.
AgentSaffron HORMUZ STRAIT@AgentSaffron

I'm very pro Kerala. Malayalis are a sister ethnic group of mine. But they should stop making beef a central part of their identity. I dont even care if they eat it or not. But it need't become integral to their identity. Completely needless provocation.

INDIA NEEDS A NEW POLITICS. AND A NEW LEADERSHIP. THINGS HAVE CHANGED IN THE POST-TRUMP ERA. MODI LOOKS LIKE A THOROUGH MISFIT: CLUELESS . When it comes to the highest office in the land, I think the experiment with the romanticism of humble origins, spun successfully by the BJP in 2014, has proved costly for India. Disastrous, honestly. EVERY world leader has taken on the dangerous buffoon in the White House who is daily destroying the rules-based international order, flawed as it may be. They have done so with panache, confidence and courage at UN, press conferences, global summits, Davos etc. The world needs visionary leaders, not puppets of crony capitalists looking for opportunistic deal-making that will help them in domestic politics PM Modi, unfortunately, cannot speak anywhere to anyone internationally because of two reasons: He does not know and therefore he does not know what to say. He cannot speak fluently on anything without a teleprompter, other than the usual gibberish during vicious polarizing election speeches in India where he is totally himself when humiliating his opponents. But times have changed. Leaders are being judged by their ability to sound like statesmen, not a petty small-minded politician on a 24x7 vote grab. Our stature globally has collapsed. We are in a woeful rut. We look like pushovers. We have abandoned our opportunity to lead the Global South. We have regressed on the world map. Bhakts/ AndhBhakts are happy that BJP is winning elections by hook or by crook, and most of my fellow Indians seem to be okay with that. Strange times. Short-term thinking. And selfish. The country is obsessed with hurting and killing stray dogs. It has lost the plot. Lynching is normalized. Of humans. It is dystopian. Upper middle class is happy with their SUV, 10 minute delivery of toilet rolls, and coastal roads. We have become inward looking, happy to fight battles with Aurangzeb and even Gandhi and Nehru. It is asinine. But that is the truth of India. You can’t run a country for 10 years on pure bombastic speeches, opposition thrashing, castigating Pandit Nehru, and melodramatic gestures. Governance, foreign policy, budget-making, climate change, AI, tech and privacy, trade deals, Gen Z and Gen Alpha requirements etc. requires education, foresight, inclusive spirit, articulation and full transparency. It’s time we looked at a new politics. And a new kind of political leadership. In all honesty, this is also the mammoth failure of the weakest opposition in our political history. And, of course, the Big Business owned corporate media that has sold its soul to Modi for a pittance and has sustained his image amidst the ruins that is Indian democracy. A new kind of political leadership must rise from the chaos and the madness. India deserves hope. India and Indians deserves a million times better. We are living consciously in a fool’s paradise. And that is living a lie.

Pleasantly surprised to find my name in Karnataka Media Academy Award winners list. Every time someone requested my profile, they would ask about the awards I have won, which was none! Now I can add this to my CV. Not a big fan of awards, but I must admit that this one is a big morale booster! Thanks everyone for your wishes. Thanks to the Karnataka Media Academy for this recognition. 🙏

OWNERS OF ZOMATO, CRED AND HARSH GOENKA WANT TO PROMOTE CAPITALISM THROUGH PODCASTS: NO PROBLEM. BUT THERE IS A CATCH. AND THE CATCH IS FACTS. 1Firstly, it is naïve to believe that it is an either/or conversation: Capitalism or Socialism.  This is not like a regular binary of Hindu-Muslim TV debates you see in the evening. Perfectly competitive free markets and 100% central planning are theoretical constructs at best. Capitalism and socialism have actually co-existed in different combinations in most economies in the recent past, and they are not discreet lovers either. They are in an open relationship. PM Modi is busy repackaging MNREGA and offering freebies left, right and center, including free foodgrains to 800 million people. He is more Marxist than Karl by a strict definition. Donald Trump won because he promised to lower the price of eggs on day one of his presidency.  Communist China will soon be the world’s largest economy overtaking the fountainhead of modern capitalism: America. It’s complicated, guys.   2Capitalism was born in western Europe, and the Industrial revolution in Britain symbolized it. Guess what? The Labor party recently  won a historic mandate. Why? Because it promised to lower the cost of living of the common man. As long as societies have poverty and inequality, both private capital and state investments will play footsie. India’s model of a democratic, socialist, secular republic demonstrates the far-sightedness of the founders of the Indian constitution. Modi tried to appease foreign investors by his usual rodomontade of maximum governance, minimum government. Ten years later, it is exactly the reverse. Britain has a publicly funded National Health Service. America, the richest country in the world, has a homeless population of 1 million people and 10-12% poverty. There is no universal panacea for humanity’s suffering that can be reduced to a business model of ‘isms. 3The “ trickle down theory” has failed, and with that the popular Milton Freidman-Supply-side economics argument of lesser state and higher deregulation; the core pf capitalism. The 2008 financial crisis was on account of corporate avarice; capitalism’s ugly face. Guess who suffered the most? The poor and the middle class. Economies tanked worldwide. Barack Obama bailed out Citigroup, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs of the world. Capitalism??? Not so sure. Greed, cocksure.   4The truth is that the super-rich in India have proved spineless in the face of an authoritarian government. Honestly, that includes you. My favorite phrase is: India Inc has the spine of a Maggi noodle.  Why was India Inc. quiet when the government introduced an opaque scheme called Electoral Bonds for political donations ( SC struck it down as unconstitutional)? Don’t you lecture your teams on corporate governance?? The history of Nazi Germany is worrying; Daimler-Benz, Hugo Boss, Volkswagen, Krupp industries, BMW etc all aided Adolf Hitler. Capitalists, even in classic liberalism, did not quite care much for democracy. In India, since 2014, we have seen genuflection. How can you extol capitalism when you are silent on the brazen plutocracy in India that has killed a level-playing field? The virtues of capitalism have been consigned to the bonfires. 5Lastly, let us bite the bullet. Since India Inc is very “ Dhurandhar” and nationalistic, how many of you are willing to pay higher corporate taxes and higher personal taxes to enable the government ( BJP or Congress) to fund welfare, defense, law and order, poverty alleviation, free healthcare etc. which will raise India’s economic heft?  In per capita income terms we are the lowest among all G-20 countries.  Raise your hand if that is the case.   ChatGPT produced X posts are fine, but are you willing to walk the talk for your country? And by extension those poor delivery boys risking their lives to meet the 10 minute deadline? @deepigoyal @dhruv_rathee @kunalb11 @kaul_vivek @hvgoenka

Dhananjay, I'll tell you again. Listen to me properly and try to understand what is really being discussed. You are an idiot. I am being very blunt here with you because we need less numbers of doctors like you, who claim to have completed MBBS (the basic science-based education to become a doctor) but still support, sympathize with, and promote (directly and indirectly) pseudoscience and irrationality in healthcare. Quacks and pseudoscience peddlers (Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Siddha, Unani) deserve no respect. They are alternative medicine practitioners that swindle people and leech off their desperation. They have no competency and logic that makes them effective healthcare practitioners who can treat patients and uphold public health. Calling quacks is not arrogance. It is a plain fact. Calling you an idiot is also not arrogance, it is plain fact. You wont understand you are an idiot in this context, because you have some kind of cognitive bias preventing you from understanding the dangers of alternative medicine practices (maybe someone in your family was a quack, an Ayurved or a Homeopath - I dont know). If skills were healing, then your plumber can sit in your chair after learning skills from you. Learning science and reasoning and the practice of evidence based clinical medicine is what helps doctors heal their patients. Every system has its place. Ayush belongs to the gutter and so does Ayush shagging so-called modern medicine practitioners like you. Grow up and show some respect to the degree you earned. Or do us all a favour and log off.
Dr. Dhananjay Singh Tomar@DstDhananjay

@theliverdoc Respect isn’t only for Allopathy. Ayurveda, BAMS, MBBS, Physiotherapists all deserve respect in their own way. Calling others Primitive or quacks is arrogance, not expertise. Skills heal, not titles. Every system has its place.

DEAR BOLLYWOOD (AND CRICKETERS AND SOME EMINENT BUSINESS BILLIONAIRES). Even a Maggi noodle has a spine compared to these pathetic, immoral, cringe -inducing chicken- hearted jellyfish that I saw on this yuck video. That video will go down in history as the ultimate disgrace brought on us by overrated, overpaid, overhyped cowards we treat as heroes. #Shameless

Three years ago only 1% of our oil basket was from Russia. Now it’s almost 40% and it’s heavily discounted. Why does only Mr Ambani get to make profits out of this? Why have prices at the pump not declined by a single rupee?
