I just learned a new term “job hug"
It simply means people are holding on tight to their jobs instead of jumping ship.
In September, we saw the share of applicants drop year-over-year in several countries, with one of the largest declines in United Arab Emirates (-4.8%).
Maybe it’s because we love our colleagues, or perhaps we’re enjoying the stability. Whatever the reason, I think it says something about how we feel at work. There is nothing wrong with giving our current role a little job hug :-)
Executives hired in 2023 had 31% more soft skills on their Linkedin profiles vs 2018.
In managing mega projects, it’s not hard skills that drive success — it’s the human ones: change mgmt, stakeholder mgmt, leading by influence.
AI fluency matters. But the future of work is human.
Kudos to @bradlightcap and the @OpenAI team for all the incredible enhancements!
Today, ChatGPT’s Agent mode helped me secure a restaurant booking that showed endless wait times — made my partner happy, and in turn, me too!
The #UAE remains a magnet for attracting global talent, thanks to our vibrant ecosystem and opportunities for ambitious individuals to develop skills needed to succeed in the world economy. The latest @LinkedIn Economic Graph reflects our ongoing national efforts in this space.
Had two separate chats recently with two groups of top performers—some from my exec ed days, others from work. Very different paths, but one thing in common: they’re obsessed with control. Every detail, every variable.
And judging by their accomplishments , it’s working for them.
Still, I keep reminding myself—control is mostly an illusion when it comes to outcomes. What we can influence is the input. That’s where the energy should go. How we show up. The systems we build. The consistency we commit to.
The rest tends to follow.
And if it doesn’t… then I start questioning how realistic the expected outcome was in the first place.
Talent comes in many forms and expressions.
I’ve never considered myself a piano enthusiast—until last night.
Rami Khalife completely changed that. His performance was nothing short of epic. One piece, and I was hooked.
Well done @DubaiOpera for hosting the two Khalife legends, father and son!
After several recent career conversations, I’m resharing a post I wrote in 2019 on what to consider when exploring your next move

As AI technologies evolve, a “tale of two cities” emerges.
On one hand, the excitement is clear: a whopping 70% of our members globally bring their own AI to work.
But alongside excitement, employees do feel anxious about catching up. In MENA, our recent research showed that 67% feel overwhelmed at work, citing AI integration as one of the top reasons for the stress. The vast majority of those are looking for guidance on how to navigate the change.
LinkedIn can help, with a vast network of experts and rich, diverse, and trusted insights. We have also unlocked a series of LinkedIn Learning Courses such as Building an Adaptability Mindset in the Age of AI for free until 25th November 2024 and we’re also offering two complimentary professional certificates on Gen AI until the end of 2025.
I have covered all of this and more in a recent interview on DXB Today. Listen to the full conversation here:
