INTERNAL SECURITY: IGP RECIEVES COMMITTEE REPORT ON ESTABLISHMENT OF S.I.S, REPOSITIONING POLICE MOBILE FORCE TO STRENGTHEN SECURITY The Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, received the much-anticipated committee report on the repositioning of the Police Mobile Force to strengthen internal security to wit the establishment of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) today 10th July, 2023, from the Chairman of the Committee and Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Adeleke Adeyinka Bode, mni. This report marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts of the IGP to enhance operational efficiency and ensure the effective management of manpower in the Force. The IGP had, in his recent address during his inaugural meeting with the Commanders of the Police Mobile Force and other tactical squads, unveiled the establishment of a 40,000 strong Special Intervention Squad, and the withdrawal of PMF personnel from VIP escorts, as well as the shutting down of all unapproved beats to beef up internal security and attain police primary in the internal security architecture. The IGP who commended the efforts of the Committee has assured that the Force Management Team will peruse, review and emplace modalities for a seamless implementation of its recommendations to improve the overall functioning of the Police Force. FOOD SECURITY AND AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT Today, I flagged-off the 2023 wet season sales and distribution of fertilizers as well as other agricultural inputs to farmers in Niger state at a subsidized rate. 60,000 thousands bags of the fertilizers have been provided to farmers for a start at a maximum of 10 bags per beneficiary, and 120,000 more bags to be provided. In our plan to advance the capacity of farmers from subsistence to commercial agriculture, our administration will revive the Niger State Agricultural Mechanization Development Agency (NAMDA), with the procurement of 300 tractors to be distributed across the 25LGA's, while the Bago Foundation headed by my wife, Hajiya Fatima Umaru Bago has donated 300 water pumping machines to farmers to boost irrigation farming across the state. Our civil servants and youths are encouraged to key into the agricultural plan of the state by embracing farming. ... Towards a sustainable Niger for all.
