It is a pleasure to attend the opening ceremony of the Caribbean Association for Oncology and Hematology (CAOH) 2026 Annual Scientific Conference and have a delightful conversation with Dr. Elaine Monica Davis, Consul General for The Bahamas to Trinidad and Toabgo, H.E. Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Trinidad and Tobago and all other guests. China has always been committed to deepening medical collaboration with Caribbean countries, and we look forward to working with all partners to deliver more tangible results in the future.

President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 World AI Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance in Shanghai and delivered the keynote address. President Xi noted that today, the world has entered an unprecedented period of active innovation on AI technologies, carrying within it great opportunities as well as challenges to governance. In China’s view, all countries should take a people-centered approach and develop AI for the positive and for good. We should ensure that AI is an important driver for shared prosperity and common security. We should join hands to build a just and equitable system for global AI governance.

Artificial intelligence (AI), as a strategic technology leading the new round of sci-tech revolution and industrial transformation, is empowering industries across the board with unprecedented breadth, depth and speed, driving manufacturing toward faster intelligent transformation and upgrading. The core node of China's national supercomputing network has officially come online in Zhengzhou, central China's Henan Province. Capable of providing more than 100,000 AI computing cards, it is the largest single domestic AI computing power resource pool since the launch of the national supercomputing network platform, expected to provide computing power for frontier innovation such as large model development and scientific AI agents. With the node now in official operation, the national supercomputing network has built the country's largest integrated computing network and application service platform, which now aggregates over 3.5 million CPU cores and 250,000 GPU cards, serving more than 1.4 million registered users with over 7,300 connected application services, more than 1,500 adapted large models, and an average monthly access volume exceeding 11.3 million.

The so-called South China Sea arbitral award: illegal, null and void from the outset The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs recently released a statement, hyping up the so-called 2016 South China Sea arbitral award once again. It falsely claimed that the award is legally binding and urged China to accept and enforce it. No matter how often a falsehood is repeated, it does not become true. Similarly, the passage of time cannot render an illegal ruling legal. For a decade, the Philippines has continuously invoked this unlawful award. Yet these repeated attempts cannot conceal the fact that the award infringes upon China's legitimate rights and interests. They cannot change the fact that the Philippines has repeatedly relied on external forces to stir up troubles and undermine peace and stability in the South China Sea. China achieved its first-ever controlled recovery of a launch vehicle’s first stage, as the first stage of its Long March 10B carrier rocket launched on Friday was successfully captured on a seaborne platform via a net-capture system, which also marked the world’s first net-based recovery of a launch vehicle.

I extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the people of Venezuela, especially the families who lost loved ones and all those affected by the devastating earthquakes. China stands firmly with the Venezuelan people in this difficult time. Following the disaster, the Chinese Government immediately provided emergency humanitarian cash assistance and subsequently announced an additional RMB 100 million in emergency grant aid in the form of relief supplies. The first batch of these supplies arrived in Caracas on 5 July, delivering timely support to the affected communities. In the same spirit of compassion and solidarity, the Chinese community in Trinidad and Tobago hosted a donation ceremony yesterday, raising and presenting TT$300,000 to support earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela. The event reflected the generosity of the overseas Chinese community and the longstanding friendship between the peoples of China and Caribbean countries. We were honoured by the presence of Her Excellency Noemí Espinoza Madrid, Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States; His Excellency Álvaro Enrique Sánchez Cordero, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Trinidad and Tobago; and Mr. Cheng Xiang, President of the China Society of Trinidad and Tobago. Their remarks underscored the importance of friendship, regional solidarity, and humanitarian cooperation. May the people of Venezuela overcome this difficult time at an early date, rebuild their homes with resilience and hope, and emerge stronger through the support of friends.

Yesterday, I was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Trade and Investment Convention (#TIC2026) organized by Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers' Association and impressed by the vision of development and prosperity of Trinidad and Tobago’s diversified economy. China will remain committed to sharing the vast market and deepening trade and investment cooperation with Trinidad and Tobago, delivering greater benefits to the peoples of both countries.

The first batch of emergency earthquake relief supplies provided by the Chinese government to Venezuela was dispatched from Beijing Capital International Airport on Sunday evening. The initial shipment, weighing over 80 tonnes, includes 20 generators, 8 water purification vehicles, 200 disinfection units, 200 sets of solar lighting equipment, more than 1,700 tents, and over 6,700 blankets.

A gathering marking the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Wednesday morning. Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a speech at the gathering, reviewing the Party's extraordinary journey and hailed its historic achievements. Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, said the CPC has led the Chinese people in writing the most magnificent epic in the millennia-long history of the Chinese nation through unremitting endeavors. Xi said socialist China under the leadership of the CPC has been widely recognized as a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development and a defender of the international order.
