A Mounted Mural representing the First Ordination Ceremony in the United States gifted to the Bhāvanā Society of West Virginia by the Embassy of Sri Lanka.

Don Sanjeewa Alwis, MD of Decryptogen, traveled to the USA to attend SelectUSA Investment Summit 2025 and met Amb. Samarasinghe today, at the Embassy of Sri Lankan in Washington, D.C. The Ambassador assured Mr. Alwis of all facilitation from the Embassy in his future endeavors.

Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe called on Senator Chris Van Hollen today and updated him on developments in Sri Lanka.

Amb. Samarasinghe met with Senator Tim Sheehy (R-MT) and discussed the latest developments in SL. Sen. Sheehy is a former Navy SEAL officer and serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee, which oversees defense policy and military operations.

Amb. Samarsinghe met Congressman Bill Huizenga(R-MI-04), the Chair of the Subcommittee on South and Central Asia and member of the HFAC.He updated recent developments in SL and the ongoing collaboration with the US aimed at strengthening the bilateral relationship between 🇱🇰&🇺🇸.

Amb. Mahinda Samarasinghe met Congressman Ami Bera on 15 May 2025 to discuss mutual interests and recent developments in Sri Lanka. Congressman Bera is a member of the HFAC and serves on the Subcommittee on South and Central Asia.

Amb. Samarasinghe met Congresswoman Julie Johnson(D-TX-32),at her Cannon Office in WDC to apprise the latest developments, economic conditions in SL, while emphasizing 🇱🇰-🇺🇸 relations. She is a member of the  HFAC as well as the Subcommittee on South/Central Asia.

Today Amb. Samarasinghe met Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA-37) and updated her on the recent developments in SL.   She is an esteemed member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where she serves as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on South and Central Asia.

On May 6th, 2025, Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe met with Congresswoman Young Kim (R-CA-40) and discussed the latest developments in Sri Lanka and topics of mutual interest. HoC, Chathuri Perera and DA, Commodore Dumindu Abeywickrama accompanied the Ambassador to the meeting.

The Sri Lanka delegation held discussions with US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer and his team on 22 April 2025 in Washington, D.C. Both sides expressed the desire to finalize a bilateral trade agreement in the shortest possible time period.

Today,  the Hon. Ricky Gill, Special Assistant to the President for South & Central Asian Affairs, called on Amb@Mahinda Samarasinghe & discussed further consolidation of excellent bilateral relations btw. the two countries.
