@AbuFeizah @IPCNetwork It's great to have a robust debate on funding of community pharmacy. Stopping the closures and reversing the long-term decline in numbers will require a large and sustained uplift in core funding. As we've said, funding model is broken and there's a £1.3bn funding black hole.

The UK has just 21 community pharmacies per 100,000 people...below the OECD average of 28 per 100,000 and lower than the no. per 100,000 in Turkey, Poland, Bulgaria, Latvia. With Pharmacy First schemes in all 4 UK nations now's the time to stop the closures and expand the number.

Local chemists are perilously close to free fall in this country. Its reimbursement system in pieces.Dispensing increasingly loss making as pharmacies cost of service bears no correlation to NHS income. Politicians must stop reciting the doctrine of NHS bosses & challenge them
