A joyous moment for every Indian! Chola Copper Plates dating back to the 11th Century will be repatriated to India from the Netherlands. Took part in the ceremony for the same in the presence of Prime Minister Rob Jetten. The Chola Copper Plates are a set of 21 large plates and 3 small plates and largely contain texts in Tamil, one of the most beautiful languages of the world. They relate to the great Rajendra Chola I formalising an oral commitment made by his father, King Rajaraja I. They also showcase the greatness of the Cholas. We in India are immensely proud of the Cholas, their culture and their maritime prowess. I thank the Government of the Netherlands and Leiden University in particular, where the Copper Plates were kept since the mid-19th century. @MinPres

Pleased to welcome my colleagues at #BRICSIndia2026 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi today. We are meeting at a time when the world is increasingly complicated and uncertain, with severe impacts on emerging markets and developing countries. Underlined the need for: ➡️ More effective response to challenges to energy, food, fertiliser and health security. ➡️ Unimpeded and safe maritime flows through international waterways, vital for global economic well-being. ➡️ Securing reliable supply chains and diversified markets for economic resilience. ➡️ Addressing climate change while upholding principles of equity and common but differentiated responsibilities. ➡️ Leveraging technology for good governance and inclusive growth. While addressing concerns of trust, transparency and equitable access. ➡️ Addressing challenges to international peace and security through dialogue and diplomacy. And stronger cooperation against terrorism. ➡️ Reformed multilateralism, including reform of UN Security Council in both permanent and non - permanent categories. #IndiaBRICSChairship is geared toward building for resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability. Confident that #BRICSIndia2026 discussions will be useful towards achieving a more stable, equitable and inclusive international order.

A thousand years ago, the first of many attacks on Somnath took place. Those who kept engaging in such attacks believed they could shatter the ethos of our land. But, they were wrong. Thanks to fiercely courageous children of Bharat Mata, Somnath kept getting rebuilt. Seventy-five years ago on this day, the doors of the newly rebuilt Somnath Temple opened in the presence of the then President Dr. Rajendra Prasad, proclaiming to the world that while the attackers have faded into the dust of history, the soul of Bharat endures. Somnath stands tall and eternal. It showcases our civilisational courage and our unbroken devotion. May the blessings of Mahadev always remain upon us all.

A year ago, our armed forces displayed unparalleled courage, precision and resolve during #OperationSindoor. They gave a fitting response to those who dared to attack innocent Indians at Pahalgam. The entire nation salutes our forces for their valour. Operation Sindoor reflected India’s firm response against terrorism and an unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security. It also highlighted the professionalism, preparedness and coordinated strength of our armed forces. At the same time, it showcased the growing jointness among our forces and underlined the strength that India’s quest for self-reliance in the defence sector has brought to our national security. Today, a year later, we remain as steadfast as ever in our resolve to defeat terrorism and destroy its enabling ecosystem.

PM @narendramodi’s address was the highlight of the 11th Heads of Mission Conference that concluded today. The importance of 3Ts (Trade, Technology & Tourism) for Indian diplomacy was clearly recognised in the deliberations. Neighbourhood First, deeper engagement with diaspora, resilience and de-risking were also discussed. The Conference benefited from the views of prominent figures from the Government, business and technology worlds. The active exchange of ideas during its various sessions lived up to the theme: ‘Reforming Indian Diplomacy for 2047’.

My dear RAGHU bhai (@RaghuRai1), I won't ever hear your heartfelt voice again over phone, greeting me in immaculate Urdu and filling void with your signature warmth! Last (2025) April, within two weeks of joining in Delhi, a call comes to me from him, "Reyaz bhai, I dare address you as 'bhai', hope you would grant me that allowance...". He sends his book, BIRTH OF A NATION, thru his daughter (based on all rare negatives of 1971 War that he misplaced in the pile of his archive). He was one of my childhood heroes. Many #youth who may not know: in August 1971, a 29-year-old photo-journalist in @TheStatesmanLtd, Raghu Rai, entered #Bangladesh to cover 🇧🇩Liberation War. He shared with me accounts of intense suffering, agony and humiliation of #people that he witnessed in battlefield - villages - Refugee Camps. Raghu bhai narrated to me a chilling account of an ambush when he kept clicking even braving splinters!   What he saw on the ground reminded him of his childhood when his family had to cross over to India (1947) braving so much of uncertainties. He was barely 5, then. In 1972, 🇮🇳 Govt. awarded a young Raghu Rai #PadmaShri for his epochal photography on 🇧🇩War. Since April '25, Raghu bhai embraced me just as a younger brother. A giant of man in the world of #photography #art #aesthetics, each time I would call him, he would greet me on phone almost like hugging me. Words just won't suffice. Raghu bhai, in eight decades, you touched so many souls, across lands. You didn't belong just to #India but to the world. Adieu, Raghu bhai. RIP. @IndiaToday

Some rivals become part of your journey forever. Carolina was one of them. We first played each other when we were 15 or 16 year old girls in the Maldives, and from then on we went on to share so many battles. To be honest, you were also a complete pain on court. The constant shouting, the intensity, the little tricks, they would get to anyone. But your skill, speed and fighting spirit were second to none. People remember the big matches and even the ugly spat we had in that third set over picking the shuttle. I’ll admit I was completely infuriated that day. But a few months later we sat across from each other over coffee in Madrid, talking and laughing, and in that moment there was nothing but respect. That’s the Carolina I’ll always remember. I’ll also always be grateful for the incredible camaraderie our generation built. Our batch of girls made women’s singles such a special place to compete in, and I honestly don’t know if badminton has seen something like it before or will again. Thank you for every battle, every lesson and most of all the friendship. I wish you the happiest retirement, Carolina 🤗 Badminton will miss you. And so will I ❤️ @CarolinaMarin
