I read “Ravi’s Roar” by @tompercivalsays with the Grade 1-3 classes today. We had some great conversations about what makes us feel angry, and how we can channel anger to stand up for ourselves or others. #SEL #zonesofregulation

Wrapping up my first year as Teacher-Librarian feels so surreal. It’s been rewarding and after a lot of hard-work, weeding and re-organizing I feel like my vision is coming to life. Creating sections and utilizing labels has helped students find books! #burnabyschools #library

@tlwestridge @EricRWalters It’s definitely a good candidate. That or “No Fixed Address” by Susan Nielsen if it’s in paperback by then. Similar themes and both would be very eye opening for some students!

@AmyMacLeod_TL @EricRWalters We used this as a battle book at JKCS. It was a student fave. I think we should use it for battle in Burnaby in 2022-2023. Canadian, philanthropic author and topics that kids need to connect to in places of privilege. I connected to it in so many ways. 👍

I just finished “The King of Jam Sandwiches” by @EricRWalters and can see why it won the #ggbooks award. Such a powerful story of resilience, I will most definitely be recommending this one to students next year!

@nicolecwilson @brentwoodSD41 I loved the poem written by a student that you shared with me today! Such a beautiful reflection on history and the path forward.

Today we learned all about the legacy of Harvey Milk as we sketched and wrote poetry inspired by the raising of the pride flag at @brentwoodSD41. So thankful for thoughtful conversations of equality and allyship 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

I love this book! It will probably be the one I read first to new classes in the fall.

We have this one in the library and it is lovely!
