Hearing rumors of a massive land buyout in Wynwood. If true, this could drive a huge wave of growth and a major increase in engineering talent across Miami. Incredibly bullish for anyone building in the city.

We’re hiring a director of talent, and my gut is the right person has near-zero recruiting experience. The right person will have the energy of an associate investor but with a passion for collecting great people, rather than companies. IMO, this style of search is the future of hiring: traits/skills > credentials/experience Anyone come to mind?

I remember when Stripe was the ultimate financial disruptor. The “add payments with one line of code” was ingenious product marketing that legitimately changed the industry. In my YC batch in S11, the Collisons came by and captivated us with their extensive knowledge on literally everything. Today, they entered the crypto space as an incumbent corporation, with another centralized and mostly undifferentiated blockchain marketed for crypto’s most basic use case. I take no pleasure in saying this, but: Welcome, IBM.
