What does “open source AI” actually mean today? This Friday, 22nd May at 2:30 PM UTC, Cluster Protocol is hosting a roundtable #2 on: “Open source at the model layer: where AI openness actually stands” Joining us: Goku from @ENI__Official @ArjunKalsy from @Covalent_HQ Lisa from @MarsCat_Global Azibi from @DataVLTAI Alu from @MelosBoom NUEL from @4aibsc & @ape_rture from @indexingco We’ll unpack where AI openness is real, where it is limited, and why the model layer matters for builders, infra teams, and the future of intelligent systems. Set your reminder ⬇️

There are two things worth protecting in your inference stack, and most teams only think about one of them. The first is credentials, API keys encrypted at rest, never logged, AES-256. That's the easy part and it's table stakes. The second is workload metadata: which models you're calling, at what volume, with what failure rate, across what time distribution. Over time, that signal accumulates into a behavioral profile of your system independent of your keys. Private inference requires an architectural answer to both layers. Distributed multi-provider routing handles what encryption alone cannot.
