@TILFURTHRNOT1CE Flying has few resistances. Types without much in the way of resistances or immunities get kind of busted when you give them spammable moves without much downside (ghost dark fairy)

@72Person @TomCafeConLeche steel resists ghost and dark pre gen 6, steel/psychic is a phenomenal typing cause it negates all of psychic's weaknesses. Crunch off base 75 special attack is probably doing a third to metagross at best while one meteor mash is tearing thru absol's paper mache defenses.

A lot of people are saying "Psychic types disprove this" when you gotta remember...you're right. They realized it too. And they introduced Dark and Steel the very next gen. Notice how they're both weak to Fighting, a very underperforming type!

STAB moves that actually synergize with the best attacking stat used to be rare on purpose back in the day. It was self balancing in way that the maximum damage a 'mon could do was limited. Damage multipliers nowadays make everyone very easily 1-2 shot with boosted stab moves

@72Person @TomCafeConLeche Its pretty good in game though. Badge boosts in gen 3 patch up the speed and bulk issues and it gets swords dance by level up

@72Person @TomCafeConLeche Absol would not have been good (competitively) in gen 3 even if dark was physical its too slow and too frail to do anything even if its base attack is great even by modern standards

@MelvinProphete @TomCafeConLeche gen 1 also has rhydon and golem as the premier physical walls and kingler is the strongest swords dance user in gen 1. Kinda falls apart with steel being introduced 3 years later but Kingler is a very well made mon in its original context

@PoopingIRL No this is just conspiracy slop lol. Tomato hornworms are a sphinx moth who's larvae are generalist feeders on Solanaceae (tomato, tobacco, potato, pepper family). They "decimate" tomatoes bc we bred all the nasty tasting defensive phytochemicals out of them + plant them in rows
